Please help us in congratulating Presley Gentry, for our Cosmetology Foundations Professionalism Award!? “This award means so much to me. To everyone else it might mean being recognized and noticed for things like helping, being responsible, and taking initiative. To me it means being noticed for being kind, having a good attitude and being my classmate’s own personal hype girl. It means putting your heart in everything you do, being intentional, and giving your all even on the days that are hard. Professionalism is being better than you were yesterday, it’s being willing to learn, and growing into the person you want to become, both inside and outside of the classroom. What made me choose to start my career in the beauty industry was my job in high school. I took a class in school that involved helping the community. In this class my group and I began working with a local salon in my town to make them a website. While in this process I found out the owner was looking for an assistant. Months later I found myself starting the job as her said assistant. This job, those girls, that salon, awakened a passion inside me and showed me where I belong. I found not only have I always loved getting myself all pretty and dolled up but that I also love doing the same for others. I love making people feel like the best version of themselves. And I thank my boss and all the girls at my salon home, Studio 3:11 for giving me the push forward into what I love to do. What I am most passionate about in the beauty industry is making people feel good. I want people to feel seen, heard, and beautiful. I want to be able to make a difference in people’s lives. I want every client to leave feeling more confident than when they walked in. I want my work to make an impact beyond the chair. My goal in my career is to not only make a difference in confidence or appearance to people, but to be a light. In the Bible it says to serve others with the gifts we have received. This is my gift, and God gave it to me for a reason. Here’s what she had to say upon winning this award Receiving this award means a lot to me because professionalism is a very important part of becoming a successful esthetician. It’s not only about performing treatments well, but also about how you treat clients, communicate, and create a welcoming and respectful environment. Being recognized for professionalism encourages me to continue working hard, representing myself positively, and providing the best experience possible for future clients. I chose this industry because, as someone who hasn’t always felt confident or comfortable in my own skin, I understand how much that can affect a person. Seeking guidance and help to improve my own skin showed me how powerful skincare can be for building confidence.
